No matter how we try, we cannot find a way to produce the InnQuirer without making a loss (which we are unable to do). The only costs we have, since the magazine is produced in-house, would be the actual printing costs. To fund this, we would need advertising to at least cover that cost.
Unfortunately, the cost of printing is crippling and trying to get advertising to cover that is not working. In the current economic situation, pubs are reluctant to commit to an advert, despite our rates remaining unchanged for over ten years. Moving printing to online instead of using local printers would still not take the magazine out of the red.
Other Branches have similar issues and it is not getting any better. Some Branches are located in areas where advertising is easier to get and are able to produce magazines but in areas like Furness, it doesn't seem to be the case. Shame really but given the time and effort put into the production of InnQuirer over the years as volunteers (that is for free!), economic reality has finally hit us.
